On behalf of the Austrian National Committee on Large Dams, it is my great honor to invite you to the 26th ICOLD World Congress in combination with the 86th ICOLD Annual Meeting and the ATCOLD Symposium Hydro Engineering, to be held in Vienna, Austria: ICOLD 2018, 26th ICOLD World Congress, 86th ICOLD Annual Meeting and ATCOLD Symposium Hydro Engineering.
In accordance with the Terms of Reference (ToR) of the International Committee on Large Dams (ICOLD), Technical Committee A (TCA), Committee on Computational Aspects of Analysis and Design of Dams, “Benchmark Workshops are organised to compare numerical models between one another and/or with reference solutions, including the dissemination and publication of results”.
This 12th Benchmark Workshop provides an excellent opportunity for engineers, scientists and operators to present and exchange their experiences and the latest developments related to the design, performance and monitoring of dams.
During the last ICOLD Congress in Brasilia, a common meeting between the technical committee on concrete and the technical committee on numerical methods for dams took place, during which the attention was called upon consequences of AAR on the structural behaviour of hyperstatic structures, and the question was raised on how to evaluate the different existing methods and software which have the ability to consider concrete swelling.
The purpose of such Workshops is to provide a critical examination of the computational methods and software used for dam analysis. Specific problems in concrete and embankment dams are formulated and proposed to participants, who are invited to solve the problems and provide their own solutions.
